First-anniversary staycation at Renaissance Mumbai
We celebrated our first-anniversary staycation at Renaissance Mumbai. Read on to find out details…
Building up to our anniversary, my partner was keeping secrets. During conversations, I would try and slip in questions about the date, but he wouldn’t budge. I finally gave up and decided to be blind-folded while traveling to our destination. And, I managed to guess 70% of the route blind-folded! Amazing, isn’t it?

On 3rd August 2019, I first waded the Mumbai rains, traveling to Churchgate station by the local. Manu remembered about the blind-fold and carried one for the journey. I had no choice but to figure the route while sipping on coffee. We started at Churchgate station. Sipping on coffee and talking about movies, I figured the route about an hour into our journey.
Manu can be an excellent planner, which I realized a year into our dating.
Two weeks before our anniversary, we happened to sit by Powai Lake. Pointing at Renaissance, I said, “One day we’ll stay there.”
Two weeks later, it became a reality. We were at Renaissance for our anniversary, when he also became a Marriott Bonvoy member.
About Renaissance
Located at Powai, Renaissance is a part of the Marriot Group of hotels. It has two buildings some overlooking the beautiful Powai lake, and some garden views. The hotel and convention center has three in-house restaurants and a Lake View Cafe. It also has an in-house spa (read positive reviews) but we were lazy to step out of our cozy room. The pool area is the highlight of the property, but it could get slippery during the monsoons.
Room
We spent that weekend at Renaissance in a Lake View room. Since it was our anniversary, the hotel staff was kind enough to give us an upgrade. Our room was spacious with a king-sized bed, a big bathroom, and a perfect-sized bathtub. That’s it. Bathtub!

One hour into check-in, we received finger food along with wine glasses. A few minutes later, our anniversary cake was sent to the room along with sweet treats from the chef. It was delicious.

3rd August was pre-anniversary celebrations so we had a dinner date at the Lake View Cafe. The Cafe menu has a vast buffet spread of Indian, Asian, and Continental food along with desserts.
Breakfast at Lake View Cafe

The next morning, we were spotted once again at the Lake View Cafe. Breakfast is our most important meal. So you will find us picking up almost everything from the buffet, sharing the platter with each other. And order eggs to compliment fruits, cold cuts, juices, sweet treats, and coffee.
We stepped out on Sunday to watch Hobbs & Shaw at Oberoi Mall, Goregaon. Post the movie, we shopped, had a cup of coffee at Starbucks, and headed to Renaissance for the night.
Although not located in the central hub of the city, Renaissance Hotel & Convention Centre can be your ideal staycation within the city. Sip on a cup of coffee or read a book while overlooking Powai Lake. Spot a crocodile too if you’re lucky! I also liked the staffs’ interest to make you’re having a memorable stay. That’s a bonus point there.
We had a memorable first-anniversary staycation at Renaissance Mumbai and returned twice later to relive the experience. At the beginning of the year, we stayed at another beautiful property. If you haven’t read my blog post, read it here
